Downeast Health Services to host bike event! "Folks on Spokes," a event to benefit Downeast Health Services, will depart the Maine Coast Community Dental Clinic on Beechland Road on June 7th, bound for Milbridge, a 60-mile round-trip. There are also shorter leg options for less intrepid athletes, including a 12-mile and a 30-mile loop. Participants are asked to raise $100. Businesses interested in being "water-station" sponsors are asked to contribute $250, which will include your logo on t-shirts, registration forms and website. Food Stamp Nutrition Education Focus Groups Valerie Kenny will be convening a focus group for food stamp recipients on April 9th in the Union River Healthy Communities conference room. Sponsored by a grant from the Maine Nutrition Network and Maine CDC, the project intends to identify how happy food stamp recipients are with their ability to eat healthy, and ways to make eating healthy easier.
